Credited with helping to shape what has been termed the “neo soul” movement along with fellow musicians D’Angelo and Erykah Badu during the late 1990s. Albums: Urban Hang Suite 1996; Embrya 1998; won the Soul Train Music Award for Best Male Soul/R&B Album 1999 and was officially certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA); then was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best R&B Album 1997; Now 2001; Black Summer Night 2009.
