Jacques Roumain, writer considered as one of the most prominent figures in Haitian Literature. Well known for Gouverneurs de la Rosee (Master of the Dew), a poetry collection titled Bois d’Ebene. Some of his works were translated by the great african american poet Langston Hughes. He conducted ethnographical research at Columbia University in New York City and is regarded as the father of Haitian archeology.
